Thursday Speakers

Today, our first speaker was the President of the Sunmark Publishing Company. He told us about the famous Japanese writer, Renji Miyazawa. He graciously gave each teacher 3 of Renji's books. I am looking forward to sharing these beautiful books with you. In the afternoon, a Professor from the International University of Japan, Takahiro Miyao, spoke to us about the Japanese economy. It was very interesting and gave us yet another insight into the Japanese people. In the afternoon, we were treated to a debate by two members of the Japanese Diet ( their government). Yuji Tsushima is in the House of Representatives and is a member of the Liberal Democratic Party and Wakako Hironaka is in the House of Councilors and is in the opposing political party - the Democratic Party. Their parties are very similar to our Democrat and Repubican parties in the USA. It was a spirited debate and both politicians answered questions after the debate.
