Japanese Bathrooms!!!!!!!

One of the biggest cultural differences was learning how to use the bathroom!!! The top picture is of a ladies bathroom - Japanese style. I'll explain that when I get home. The second picture is from the girls' restroom in the elementary school. The Japanese are very clean and they do not think you should wear "outside" shoes into the bathroom, so when you want to use the bathroom, you take your shoes off in front of the wooden slats, step on the slats, and wear a pair of "toilet slippers". When you are done using the bathroom, you wear the toilet slippers to the wooden slats, slip them off ( facing into the room), and step into your outside shoes. We were told that one of the major faux pas that Americans make is to wear "toilet slippers" out of the bathroom!!! I haven't done it yet!!!
